Self-Portrait

A self-portrait of Andy Bell.

This self-portrait project shows off several different abilities I have with photography.

First, I took all the photos. The photo of myself was taken using a self-timer. The photo of the flags is one I particularly like. I like the relatively shallow depth of field I was able to get in it. You can see the full photo of the flags in my slideshow.

I used Photoshop and layer masks to blend the images together. I also created the filmstrip at the top and bottom of the image using shapes in Photoshop.

My creative process on this was similar to how my creative process goes most of the time: I spend a lot of time thinking about the project, but not too hard. An idea forms and then I’m able to put it together in the software relatively rapidly because the hard part (the idea) is already done!
